The handrails are essential for beginners and those that lose their balance easily. Many treadmill accidents happen when someone loses their balance and grabs for a handrail that is not set properly.

Make sure your treadmill features an automatic shut-off in case you fall while working out on the moving treadbelt. Should this happen, the safety key will shut off the treadmill, preventing more injury from happening to someone.

As with all other exercise equipment, treadmill safety for older individuals needs to be observed even more so. It is important for seniors to have a thorough physical examination before using a treadmill.
Treadmills are a very popular method of exercise for middle aged and senior citizens these days. Medically speaking, treadmills are highly recommended for people over 40 to work out on because this boosts the body’s metabolism and cardiovascular fitness when used correctly.
Don’t Overdo It
Using common sense and not pushing beyond the body’s endurance is essential when using a treadmill for exercise. When used effectively, a treadmill will improve cardiovascular fitness and overall health. But when a treadmill is used without regard to extenuating medical conditions, this can spell disaster if the medically recommended exercise regimen is disregarded. Overdoing it is not going to put you in better health faster.
Treadmills are designed to give you years of healthy workout pleasure. Millions of individuals in the United States use treadmills to stay in shape. Using them regularly for your daily workouts will keep you fit and trim. They also will add more years to your life. Don’t put yourself in jeopardy by not knowing the basics, or using faulty equipment. Treadmill safety should always come first before putting yourself at risk.
