Grant Lee Phillips – Ladies` Love Oracle [Bonus Track] $14.03 LADIES` LOVE ORACLE was originally only available online and at live shows.Personnel includes: Grant-Lee Phillips (vocals, various instruments).Recorded in October 1999.Audio Mixers: Grant Lee Phillips; Tom Biller.Ladies` Love Oracle is an intimate, candle-lit coming-out party for Grant Lee Phillips, who continues to prove himself as one of the finest songwriters of the last 20 years. Recorded over a three-day span during October 1999 in Jon Brion`s basement studio, the brief, nine-song collection is a one-man show in the raw. As stated by the man himself, "Sometimes a sketch says more than a mural." Indeed — there`s an even greater sense of immediacy and warmth here than in the work of his prior band. Though the chiefly acoustic guitar-based record is skeletal in nature when compared to Grant Lee Buffalo`s studio work, some of these pearls are lushly draped with harmonica, piano, and other refinements without ever sounding extraneous. Here, Phillips joins the gilded ranks of Bob Mould, Mark Eitzel, and Kristin Hersh — songwriters who have flourished alone in the wakes of their respective bands. If Grant Lee Buffalo`s best work is like admiring a vast flower garden from afar, Phillips` first solo release is akin to picking a rose from that garden, putting your nose to it and admiring the folds of the petals. Like all card games with a huge pot of money at stake, the Texas Holdem poker rules that will make you a guaranteed winner are: stay with the game as long as possible; and win… win… win! Naturally, you cannot win if you drop out of the game much too early. Also, if you are about to sit at a table with no intention of winning, then you might as well go home and play poker with your dog. The one gauge for success with this kind of card game is the amount of money a player takes home in the end. Even when several players end up on the last standing card table, there will always be one victor in the end. This is of course, with the exclusion of official ties or non-breakable ties during the last run. In any case, let us pick apart the Texas Holdem poker rules that will make you a guaranteed winner.
One of the Texas Holdem poker rules that will make you a guaranteed winner is to stay in the game as long as possible. This is actually easier said than done. First of all, your initial number of chips is largely dependent on your starting cash. It is a free flowing dream among novice poker players that they can start off with small amounts which they will eventually build upon. This is the very reason why their small stashes of chips become smaller after every play. They are veritably “bleeding” their way to through the game in hopes of making it to the next card table.
Definitely, bleeding or losing your chips without gaining any is not one of the Texas Holdem poker rules that will make you a guaranteed winner. This is quite the contrary, in fact. One way of not losing that much money is to choose a table where the stakes have no limits. Of course, we are taking for granted that you do know how to play Texas Holdem poker (or any form of poker game) in the first place. With no limit games, you actually have a better control of the chips in front of you. You could start off really small, like contributing $1 at the onset and increasing the blinds slowly.
You could also buy your way in with some of those mini poker tournaments called SNGs or Sit-And-Go tables. These are actually great places to try out your poker skills without losing to much money, and some tables may set a low buy-in limit which can be more than affordable. Just one note about SNGs: unlike no limit games where a player can walk away anytime, SNGs means you need to stick it out to the end – until one player finally takes home the entire pot. So SNGs can last anywhere from a couple of minutes (if you are lucky) to several grueling hours.
One of the Texas Holdem poker rules that will make you a guaranteed winner may sound counterintuitive. You have to learn when to fold or bow out of a round. This will help prolong your time at the table; and save your chips for a more worthwhile hand which may come later. Staking your bet on a mediocre hand is one way of bleeding, and most novice players make this mistake often hoping to bluff their way through. This does not work, so it would be best to fold now, and play later.

washington state need grants

Other than obvious things like voting, it is easy to get involved in politics. It can be done in four easy steps right from your home computer. The first step is to get to know you Congressmen in the House of Representatives and contact them; let them know how you feel. Second, you have to get familiar with your senators in your state and contact them as well. Third, stay on top of what the President is doing and write or call the White House. Fourth, you have to stay current with the events in Washington D.C.
1st Step: Getting to know your Representative (Rep.) in the House
Getting to know your Rep. in the house is easy, but very important. Your Representative does just what his/her title refers: represents you and the people in you congressional district. They are there to speak your voice to congress and the president. A problem lies when the Americans in a particular district do not share their voice, this gives the Rep. the ability to take his/her own agenda or the agenda of the few that do contact him/her, and we both well know that is not a good thing. To contact your Rep. at house.gov, type in your zip code and follow the contact links. It is just that easy
2nd Step: Get familiar with the senators from your state.
The Senate is the other side of Congress, opposite the House of Representatives and was created by our founding fathers to give each state equal representation, unlike the House, which is controlled by population. Knowing your senators is equally as important as your Rep. in the House. When a bill is created and is voted on by congress, it is voted on by the House and the Senate. The bill has to have majority votes both in the Senate and the House to reach the President to be signed into law. This is why projecting your voice to your senators is so important; they vote on bills just as the House does. If there was a bill that has been approved in the House, then now the Senate will be debating and voting not long after. It is very important to let your senators know how you feel. Contacting your senators is easy, “Click Here” select your state, and follow the contact information.
3rd Step: Follow the actions and agenda of the President.
As much as you may dislike or disagree with the President, the President will have a direct impact on your life. The President usually sets the tone and puts forth the agendas to be voted on in congress. The President also places a tremendous amount of pressure on congress to put together bills in his/her’s best interest. The President also has the power to veto a bill if he/she does not agree with it. And usually after a veto the bill dies or it takes a 2/3 votes in both the Senate and the House for the bill to become law. With that said, it is very important to follow the President and it is easy to do, “Click Here” and you can get updated information on what the President is up to. Don’t agree with it? Let him/her know.
4th Step: Stay current with the events in Washington D.C.
Staying current with what’s going on in Washington is important for obvious reasons. You have to know what’s happening to make you voice viable. Simply ranting to your congressmen or the president about what you father, mother or friend tells you are simply sharing your father, mother or friend’s voice; you’re still mute and trivial. And it’s easy to stay up date with current events on Capitol Hill. Visit “Best For The U.S.” Daily and get the latest, unbiased news. Take that news and let your congressmen know what you think and how you feel.
Using the four steps talked about above, we can all make a difference in our country. This country was built and constructed with the idea that the American citizens would be involved and voicing their opinion. Without our voices, we are at the mercy of those we elect. Visit “Best The For U.S.” and let them know that we have the authority.

The best ways to create a favorable environment in your classroom hinge on the following:
1. Get to know the parents and enlist their help.
2. Keep the class busy for the whole period.
3. Never take insults personally; they are just blowing steam because they are frustrated.
4. Accompany them during games or special events. Visit their homes and see how they live; they’ll understand that you are genuinely interested in them (Stand up and Deliver is a true story).
5. Respect them and you will (eventually) be respected. Teens are especially sensitive to slights, even said jokingly. It is in their nature to be untrusting with adults, as many of them have been the subjects of verbal abuse as children.
6. Talk to each one of your students to get to know them better (in private). A student will react differently alone than accompanied by his peers.
7. Study the way they get along (or not) in small groups and detect the leaders of the classroom. These last students will be of invaluable help to you due to their influence on the rest of the group.
8. Decorate your classroom in accordance with school policy and with the age of your students. A history teacher in high and middle school may have posters of historical movies on the walls. An English teacher may prefer posters of famous writers. An elementary teacher will favor educational decorations that include fun characters (such as cartoon heroes).
A good idea is to post famous sayings by great minds all over the walls, such as “Great will power is more important than great intelligence.”
9. A list of what they may not do in the classroom is useful from day one; for example, “no electronic games, no gum, no foul language, no horseplay, and no cell phones (prevalent in high school).” Make a very visible poster of the list and stick it on the wall at the entrance so students can see it every day as they come in. Read it to them the first day of school and enforce the rules very strictly.
10. A list of what they should do; “start working immediately (pre-established activities), stop talking, take out your notebook, and raise your hand if you have a question.” Same location as the previous list for maximum exposure.
You must set the working conditions immediately from day one. Students, as a group, will always test you to see how far they can go. Firmly, gently, and with good humor, let them know that you have a job to do and that you count on them to help you out.
Even though you may feel discouraged at first (that happens to all first year teachers), try to hide it from your students. They are much more perceptive than you can imagine. Even small children sense a change in humor in adults and react accordingly. Put on your best face and remember that you are dealing with immature human beings.
Let them know that you have very high expectations of them, even though they might feel unskilled and undereducated. It is your job to create a productive environment in which students and teachers work in harmony. If they discover, after showing skepticism, that you are the genuine article, they will open up and do their best to succeed. It might take time, but the end results are indeed highly rewarding.

Congress is considering legislation that would require colleges receiving federal aid to educate students and faculty about illegal file-sharing on campus and develop a plan to offer “technology-based deterrents” to illegal downloading.
The provisions are part of the College Opportunity and Affordability Act of 2007, introduced in the House by Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., chairman of the House Committee on Education and Labor, and Rep. Rubén Hinojosa, D-Texas, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Higher Education, Lifelong Learning, and Competitiveness.
The legislation would require colleges and universities participating in any Title IV program to inform students and employees on certain “policies and procedures related to the illegal downloading and distribution of copyrighted materials,” and to “develop a plan for offering alternatives to illegal downloading or peer-to-peer distribution of intellectual property as well as a plan to explore technology-based deterrents to prevent such illegal activity.”
The legislation makes available competitive grants to support “Campus Based Digital Theft Prevention Solutions.” SafeMedia CEO & Chairman Safwat Fahmy applauded Miller and Hinojosa for sponsoring the legislation.
“This vision, intent and wording of the bill shows that Congress understands the complex issues of illegal file sharing and identity theft associated with contaminated P2P networks on U.S. campuses,” said Fahmy. “The proposed measure also recognizes that technology is available today to stop contaminated P2P, while allowing the legitimate ones, which are critical educational tools to operate without interruption.” “
“SafeMedia products available now stop contaminated P2P networks and offer immediate alternative to illegal downloading. SafeMedia unique lock and key system creates a safe and secure environment to distribute copyrighted material can be used by Universities as an alternative to illegal downloading, .” said Fahmy.
“SafeMedia has the only products available today that can end all illegal file sharing and identity theft associated with encrypted or non-encrypted contaminated P2P,” he said.
Contaminated P2P networks are known to contain illegal copyrighted files, classified business information, national security data and personal identification documents. SafeMedia’s P2P Disaggregator technology (P2PD™) was developed to create a secure environment for unencumbered, economical use of legitimate P2P and Bit Torrent networks on campus.
The Joint Committee of the Higher Education and Entertainment Communities – a non-profit organization that promotes use of information technology in higher education – wrote to Miller’s committee expressing concerns that no technology exists that can stop illegal file-sharing, an assertion that Fahmy strongly disputes.
“SafeMedia’s P2PD is available today and was designed specifically to address the complex issues of P2P networks on college campuses,” he said. “We challenge any college in America to test our solution and see if it doesn’t solve the problem of eliminating illegal file sharing, creating a safe environment for the legitimate use of P2P and Bit Torrent networks and provide a safe, secure and economical digital download solution.”
Dan Glickman, chairman & CEO of the Motion Pictures Alliance of America, said intellectual property theft costs more than 140,000 U.S. jobs each year. Glickman said almost half the U.S. motion picture industry’s domestic losses are attributed to illegal file-sharing over campus P2P networks.
“We are pleased to see that Congress is taking this step to help keep our economy strong by protecting copyrighted material on college campuses,” said Glickman.

The Oracle $13.75 The Oracle of Delphi would enter into ecstatic union with the god Apollo and bring back his prophecies and counsel for all who came seeking answers. Though the air of magic that surrounds her might cast her as a legend, the Oracle did really exist–and her visions caused her to become the single most influential figure in all of ancient Greece. Eyewitness accounts describe temple practices in detail, claiming that the Oracle breathed in vapors rising from the temple floor. In 1892 French archaeologists unearthed the temple, but could find no evidence that the rocky ground had brought vapors of any kind. Science journalist Broad tells a modern-day detective story that blends history and science to describe how a team of scientists, working from subtle clues scattered throughout the ancient literature, as well as from the latest findings in geology, uncovered scientific evidence to explain the Oracle`s powers.–From publisher description. |
