obama grants moms

One of the most recent US government initiatives is that of encouraging single mothers to go back into full-time education. It isn’t widely advertised to date, but Obama’s ‘Moms Return to School’ program offers a Government scholarship program, and for those thinking about going into full-time education, the opportunities are attractive.
It’s no secret that the economy isn’t in great shape at the moment, but that’s precisely the time to start thinking about going to college, particularly for single mothers. When the economic cycle swings and begins to expand, qualified professionals will again be able to demand better terms and more suitable jobs. Consequently, a university qualification will be a huge step towards getting that dream job.
So, a quick synopsis of how the program works and the prospects available;
Federal Pell Grants
One of Obama’s initial pieces of legislation was to widen the terms of Federal Pell Grants to include those on low earnings. In effect, the maximum grant allowed now is $5100 rather than the previous $4050. These terms are rumored to be expanded in the future. For a single mom, this may be the most valuable tool in returning to education. Application for this program involves selecting the institute of education you want to enroll in. Obviously, ensure they have the course you want to attend. Finally fill out the deferred FAFSA application and submit it.
Tax Benefits for Studying Moms
Another government initiative is contained in “The American Opportunity Tax Credit” Program. The first $4000 of higher education is allowed free.
Grants for Online Study
The ‘Moms Return to School’ Government program is not limited to bricks and mortar establishments. It also applies to internet and distance learning. This is particularly relevant and useful to women with families as they can combine child minding with studying.
The opportunities available are not just limited to those described above. There are other Grants and scholarships appropriate to all moms, which may work out better than the Federal Pell Grant.
Did you know you can get a $10,000 scholarship for Moms just for registering? Apply right now for free: Scholarships for Moms.

Whether you are looking for an undergraduate degree, graduate degree, or just want to take a few online courses to improve your chances for promotion, online colleges and universities provide the flexibility you need.
Despite these advantages, the cost of tuition, both online and at traditional brick-and-mortar institutions, is on the rise. Knowing this, online learners generally depend on financial aid to finance their education. If you are considering pursuing a degree online and need financial aid, there are a few things you should consider to ensure that you will qualify.
Minimum eligibility requirements
1. U.S. citizen, or eligible non-citizens
2. Possess a valid Social Security number
3. Selective Service registration, if you are male
4. High school diploma or GED
5. Cannot have certain drug convictions
Accreditation
The college or university must be an approved, degree-granting institution. There are plenty of institutions on the internet who come up with fancy sounding names, but they are not accredited by one of the six regional accreditors. Without this accreditation, you will not be eligible for financial aid, and in most cases, your college credits will not transfer to regionally accredited universities. If you are uncertain of your college’s accreditation, ask.
Program of study
You must be pursuing a degree or certificate to be eligible for financial aid. Even if you are unsure of your desired major when you enroll, you will need to select a major, or at the very least, enroll in an eligible certificate program. You can always change your mind later.
Term length
Ensure that your online courses have a definite start and end date. In most cases, this is not an issue. The exception will be courses deemed “correspondence” where a student has the option of taking up to eighteen months or more to complete the course. Most online colleges operate on a semester schedule. If your college does not, you will need to contact your college’s financial aid office to ensure that you will be eligible to receive federal aid.
Enrollment
To be eligible for Federal financial aid, you must be enrolled at least half-time. In most cases, this means taking a minimum of six credit hours per semester. Colleges vary in what they deem half-time, so check with your online college’s financial aid office to be certain.
Applying for financial aid
Once you have verified that your university and program of study meet these criteria, you may begin the financial aid process. For more information and a free step-by-step financial aid guide, visit http://www.online-college-blog.com.

It’s funny how you never think of it at the time. How you take things as they are, take things for granted. I did exactly that with my dog.
She was called Emily – a German Shepherd and Collie cross. Beautiful to look at and we had her from a puppy. She was gorgeous. But after a while I stopped giving her the attention she needed.
I was never cruel – well, not intentionally so – I expect I did things that in retrospect I shouldn’t have done. I occasionally had to discipline her especially when she used to go for other dogs and bark a lot. It never did any good and I suppose it made her like me a little less.
My work was a burden for me and when there was not work, there was the kids. My time was taken up with all sorts of activities and I never made time for Emily. She always wagged her tail and jumped up happily when I came home – even though she was on her own for long periods of time. All she wanted was some love.
I used to pat her and she even slept on the bed when she wanted. She was so good. I took her for walks, mainly for “relieving” reasons but rarely took her on the long extended walks that both me and her would have loved.
Perhaps I am being a bit hard on myself because I certainly remember many times when we went swimming in the sea, did “fetch” games and went running together.
But when you lose something, like Emily, you only think of how you could have made life better and how just a bit more of your time could have been spent loving each other.
She was so loyal and placid. A beautiful dog, simply beautiful. I know that if she came home now she would be so pleased to see us all. She would forgive us our selfishness.
I know, now, that I would never let her down again. Bless you Emily.

masters degrees grants

The stimulus package created by the Obama administration was initially designed to bail out large corporations that were unable to financially survive. Part of this stimulus package ended up providing about $10 billion in federal funding for students that want to go back to college. One of the beneficiaries of this windfall are single moms that want to earn their college degree. Filling out the forms is actually the easy part. Deciding what major to choose is where it gets a little tricky.
For instance, if you decide that you want to be a teacher, you should apply for the TEACH grant which is focused on those earning liberal studies degrees which can then move them toward getting a teaching credential and working at a K-12 school. Also, those that obtain their master’s degree and higher can actually teach at a college or university level. There are other grants available for a multitude of possibilities. It just depends which direction you want to go and where your interests lie.
The best thing about getting a grant whether it is from the federal government or private corporation is that you do not have to pay back. Sometimes you will not get the grant that you apply for, but you must persevere and keep sending applications and until you get the money you need to go back to school.
Taking a moment out of your busy day is probably the best thing you can do. Not only is it relaxing, but you will be able to determine what direction you want to go in, choose a major, and then move toward the financial aid. Going to school will be difficult. You will have to do this in your spare time. If you are single mother, spare time typically does not exist. Therefore, make your choice wisely and if you can conceive of earning a degree in two years, you will have the money and you will make it happen. The Obama administration is here to lend a helping hand, especially single moms looking to change their lives.
Visit our sites for more information on finding federal grants for single mothers or obtaining financial aid for college students through the Obama administrations stimulus package.

When words do you use to describe your mom? Words such as caring, gentle, and understanding come to my mind. Funny, these are some of the same words I would use to describe many of my teachers too. I suppose that is why moms make such great teachers. They just have a softer, more caring side to them. And if you are going to school to enter the teaching field, then grants and scholarships for moms such as the TEACH Grant is a perfect way to find funding for your education.
Now more than ever moms are heading back to the classroom to get a degree. And many of us will choose to enter the field of teaching. Maybe you have always wanted to be a teacher, ever since you were a little girl. Or maybe, if you have children of your own or plan on starting a family, a teacher’s work schedule would fit into your family life the best. Whatever the reason you have chosen this major, you will want to be sure to locate all grants and scholarships for moms, which will lessen your financial burden.
Three of these educational government grants that you need to be aware of are the Pell grant, the FSEOG, and the TEACH grant.
- Pell Grant: This grant is awarded based on income. You will need to fill out the FAFSA after completing your taxes from the previous year to see if you are eligible. This can total up to $5350 towards your education per year.
- FSEOG: This is another grant from the government. In order to qualify for this, you must already be approved for the Pell grant. The FSEOG can total up to an additional $4000 per year towards your education.
- TEACH Grant: This is another grant that is awarded to those interested in entering the teaching field and working at a low-income school and high-need field of study. This includes areas such as foreign language, special education, math, science, etc. The TEACH Grant can total up to $4000 per year.
As with any grants and scholarships for moms, you will not only need to qualify based on certain criteria, but you will also be expected to maintain a certain GPA in order to continue to receive the grant money. And, if you do not keep up your end of the bargain after you are given this free money, they may be turned from government grants into educational loans in which you must pay back.
But even if you do not qualify for these grants, you can still give yourself the tools you need to go back to school and become financially independent by entering for your chance chance to win a $10,000 Scholarship for Moms – single moms, teenage moms, stay-at-home moms, (shhh…even dad’s can apply too!)
