credit debt grants

Where can I find info about government grants for credit card and student loan debt?
I am a single mom. I lost my job in June and have had the worst time trying to find a job. When my daughter was born her dad never and still does not pay me anything. His back support is up to 10K. I was dumb and applied for a credit card. Now I just need all this to go way.
Please do not give me any bullshit answers…I dont have time for it. I was told that there are government grants out there to help people with their debt. Thanks for the help.
Shaddy:
I’m sorry, but whoever was giving you that advice about government grants for bill paying and debt either didn’t know what they were talking about, or wasn’t being honest with you. There are no such grants.
I know that this isn’t what you want to hear, and that’s going to make you suspicious of my answer, so let me refer you to a government website that will confirm it:
If you visit: http://grants.gov , you’ll be visiting the official US government website that serves as a gateway to all federal grants.
Check out that site, and click on “About Grants.gov” on the left hand side of the page. Then click on “Who is eligible for a grant”, and you’ll find this passage:
“We have all seen them; late night infomercials, websites, and reference guides, advertising “millions in free money” Don’t believe the hype! Although there are many grants on Grants.gov, few of them are available to individuals and none of them are available for personal financial assistance.”
Government grants are not for people who are struggling to get by – though the government does offer financial assistance of other types. Those programs aren’t grant programs – they are government benefits programs.
Nearly everyone is familiar with some of the best-known government benefits programs – Social Security, food stamps, VA benefits, etc. There are many more programs – and you can find them all at this government website: http://www.govbenefits.gov
You can search by state, by program type, etc.
I hope this helps you. Whatever you do – don’t pay ANYONE for information about “grants” – all of that information is available to you for free, and the companies that charge for it are either greedy or flat-out crooked.
Good luck!

Five Grant Funding Myths
Grant Money is Free Money. Grants are given because your organization is doing humanitarian work. Donors grant monies to fulfill a specific need in your community. Your Mission statement defines your purpose. Grants are to be used for its intended purpose only.
Grants for individuals. Have you seen them? Ads offering grants to individuals are plentiful. Grants to assist you in paying for credit cards, the expensive automobile, or the trip you always dreamed of, do not exist. There are non profit organizations that can assist you with your rent and utility bills once you prove you are in need of such assistance.
Pay a grant writer part of a grant. People think they can hire a Grant Writer and pay them once the grant funds come in. This is unethical. Many Professional Grant Writers belong to organizations such as the American Grant Writer’s Association, American Association of Grant Professionals. These organizations have a Code of Ethics. Well run non profit organizations pay for their overhead costs and plan out their fundraising accordingly. What are the consequences when a funder discovers that you spent any portion of their grant donation other than what was stated? The donor discovers that your organization is dishonest and not well run. They will no longer donate grant monies to your cause and will share this information with other grant donors. The donor may demand their money back. You organization can loose there non profit status. It is difficult to raise funds when your organization has a bad reputation.
There are no grants for our organization. There are many grants available to your cause. Grants can come from three sectors, Government, corporations, and private foundations. Grants are awarded based on many factors such as the organizations reputation, mission, and sustainable income sources. The Grant Writer simply relays the importance of your organization to the funder. If you have doubts to you organization’s ability to be funded, re-evaluate your organization.
Grant funding is all we need. Sustainable income is important for any non profit organization. Sustainable income includes fundraising events, donation drives, and a shopping cart on your website. Sustainable income gives your organization stability and credibility. Grant funders look closer at organizations with multiple sources of funding.

The Poor Always Pay Back $27.24 The original rules and methodology of the Grameen Bank–the Bangladeshi microcredit institution founded in 1983 that won the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize together with its founder Muhammad Yunus–underwent a period of transition in the late 1990s, incorporating such features as (quoting Yunus from the foreword) "open-access savings, flexible loan products, a range of deposit products attractive to savers, self-reliance at the branch level, freedom from donor dependence for funds, maintenance of the interest rate close to the commercial rate while keeping each branch profitable from the second year of operation, insurance products, a pension fund, education loans, loans geared to the needs of beggars, total computerization of branch-level accounting and MIS [management information systems], elimination of the staff`s reliance on paperwork, and the uncoupling of microcredit from the myth of group guarantee, joint liability, and legal instruments." Here two former students of Yunus, Dowla (economics, St. Mary`s College of Maryland) and Barua (deputy managing director of Grameen Bank), describe the transition to this new model of microcredit instituted at the Grameen Bank, discussing both the reasoning behind it and the practicalities of its implementation. Credit card companies often prey on the young and inexperienced by offering credit to those who are not ready to make responsible financial decisions. Debt grants are provided by United States government to a great number of American tax paying citizens who have been lured into the vicious traps of heartless “easy credit” finance companies that prey on the young and naïve. Not to say that all credit card companies are ruthless, scandalous, and deceiving. Many are quite legitimate and respectable lenders. However, there are less than reputable credit agencies that cleverly disguise their hidden agendas as “opportunities”.
Far too many people who are just trying to survive and establish a good credit standing are being bamboozled by the corporate bullies and blindly sucked into paying bogus enrollment fees, hidden revolving interest rates, and yearly participation fees that are added to the account balances of unknowing card holders. In some most unfortunate cases, applicants who have already signed the credit agreement, or electronically made the agreement online, receive a statement with the arrival of their “new credit line” that states that they have already extended their credit line to it’s fullest in “yearly participation and enrollment fees” and owe payment immediately. If this payment is not made on time, the recipient is then charged over the limit fees and late payment charges. Nothing like buying yourself more debt and having nothing to show for it, huh?
The government understands that there are creditors out there who take advantage of unsuspecting individuals who are not so much financially irresponsible as they are naïve if to financial predators. This is why they make a generous amount of free government money available in personal debt grants to help American citizens who have been taken by these con artists who call themselves finance companies.
If you have been financially taken advantage of and are now experiencing the pressures of exorbitant personal debt because of it, click the links below to find out what local agencies in your area offer personal debt grant programs.

Soldiers’ Pay $11.27 SOLDIER'S PAY, Faulkner's first novel, is about World War I and its aftermath, and draws on his own experiences. The novel's main character is Lieutenant Donald Mahon, a fighter pilot shot down in Europe and believed dead. He turns up, however, on a train bound for his hometown, Charlestown, Georgia, but he has suffered a terrible, disfiguring head wound, and his memory is gone. On the train he meets Joe Gilligan, an Army private, and Margaret Powers, a war widow, who accompany him back to Charlestown to care for him. The novel recounts Donald's reunion with his father and with his fiancee, who assumed he was dead, and traces his slow degradation and decline into death. |

Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant $19.65 Among the autobiographies of generals and presidents, the Personal Memoirs of U.U. Grant ranks with the greatest. It is even more impressive in light of the circumstances in which it was created: Faced with terminal cancer, virtual bankruptcy, and a family he would leave without means of support, he took the advice of his publisher, mark Twain, and went to work. He completed the manuscript in eleven months-and died a week later, on July 23, 1885. Frank and unpretentious, Grant`s memoirs tell the story of his boyhood in Ohio, his graduation from West Point, and the military campaigns in the West and Mexico that ended with his disgraceful resignation and a return to Illinois, where he ran the family store. Soon, however, began the rebellion that broke the Union and recast Grant`s fortune, transforming him into the leader of the victorious Union armies in the War Between the States and giving him the perspective to describe intimately the capture of Fort Henry and Fort Donelson, the battles of Shiloh, Corinth, Vicksburg, the bloody Wilderness campaign, and Appomattox. Here is Grant the tactician, the alcoholic, the plain and tough professional soldier, the ideal commander-but most of all here is Grant the writer as he assesses himself and the events that forged his character, as well as that of the nation. |

Obama believes that” In America there no barriers to success if you are willing to work for it.” Raised by a single mother, he strongly believes in expanding the opportunities for working women raising families. His goal is to also help stay at home mothers make life more affordable ad a lot less stressful. His current economic plan is providing a single mother direct relief. This direct relief includes college tuition assistance.
Single- mothers are urged to apply for free scholarships and grants. These scholarships and grants don’t have to be paid back. It is money from the government. Obama’s stimulus package is designed to do just this.
You’re probably wondering where to start. Being a stay at home mother or single mother has not given you the time let alone the opportunity to find these resources. Being a single mother myself, I have outsourced these sites:
1.) FAFSA On The Web
2.) Student Aid On The Web
3.) Funding Education Beyond High School
4.) Student Assistance Programme
5.) Student Financial Calculators
These programs by far are not a cakewalk. It is going to take time, patience, and dedication to achieve successful results. All applications have deadlines and important previous tax year information may be required. Keep in mind that companies today are looking for a college background. Your chances of getting a higher position increase dramatically when having a degree.
Obama’s mom scholarship program not only offers $10,000 to single- mothers but it doesn’t have to be paid back. Night classes, on line degrees, and weekend courses are available. During this economic downturn with unemployment still on the rise, this is a perfect time to take this opportunity to better your future and most importantly your child’s future.
