If you are planning a vacation this year and want to try something different, here are the top ten vacation spots. One of these places is sure to fit the type of vacation you are planning, whether itÂ’s to relax, have an adventure, a romantic getaway, or a family fun vacation.

1. Las Vegas- Over the years, the reputation of Las Vegas has changed from Sin City to a more family oriented vacation spot. Today, Las Vegas has a little something for everyone. Whether your vacation is geared towards gambling at a casino, live shows and entertainment such as Cirque du Soleil or a Gondola Ride at the Bellagio, or just shopping at the outlets and designer stores, Las Vegas can give you the experience of a lifetime, whatever your goal and budget.

2. Mexico- There are many Mexico vacation packages available that offer a perfect combination of historical interest, beaches, and the crazy night life. Mexico has various beautiful landscapes, including mountains, deserts, tropical jungles, and quaint villages and resorts for tourists. Try the favorite vacation spots of Acapulco and Guadalajara.

3. Hawaii- This is an obvious vacation pick because of its warm hospitality, stunning volcanoes, but first of all for its beautiful beaches. There are plenty of tourist spots on the islands, but try to really experience the island by hiking the volcanoes or by flying over the islands in a helicopter. You could even visit macadamia nut fields and see other beautiful island scenery.

4. Los Angeles, California- This city is home to Hollywood, and you are sure to spot a celebrity during your stay. Due to the beautiful Californian sunshine year round, it is the home of a large number of celebrities, and is the center of the TV and movie industry. You can take a tour of the starsÂ’ homes or visit the bohemian zones. Since Los Angeles is also a popular spot for immigrants, there are plenty of different and even authentic cuisine restaurants ranging from Chinese to Mexican. A Los Angeles trip really has something for everyone.

5. Haute Route, Swiss Alps- If you want an adventure for your honeymoon or other vacation, Switzerland holds the famous Swiss Alps hiking adventure. Take the traditional Haute Route to see the largest mountain in Western Europe, the Matterhorn. A vacation with the Swiss will provide you plenty of culture, adventure, and warm hospitality.

6. New York City- Whether you are from abroad or a U.S. citizen, visiting New York is something that everyone should do at least once in their life. For the City that Never Sleeps, New York is truly a sight to behold. Be sure to take the time to visit the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Empire State Building. If you donÂ’t catch a Broadway play while you are there, you better plan for a trip back. With the nearly uncounted number of activities you can do and things you can see, you will probably leave feeling that you have only just scratched the surface.

7. Aruba- Travelers love the sunny climate of Aruba, which boasts an 82 degree temperature on the white sandy beaches for most of the year. On the western and southern coasts you’ll find a lot of sheltered beaches. This spot is a great alternative to the Caribbean and a perfect secluded honeymoon spot. January and February may be the best months for an Aruba vacation because that is when the carnival season starts, which ends with a grand parade.

8. Thailand- This country is named The Land of Smiles because you are welcomed by friendly people for whom smiling service to visitors is a great pleasure. Thailand has a lot to offer visitors. Whatever you are looking for, you will be fascinated by the ancient civilization and the glorious culture. There are wonderful sights, including exotic open-air markets and sparkling temples. There are endless souvenirs and cuisine at bargain prices. You can vacation for dirt cheap in Thailand, and even visit a luxurious health spa to regenerate your body and psyche. Also try to relax on a golden beach and enjoy the tropical sunshine and deep turquoise sea. Be sure to carefully plan your vacation so that you donÂ’t get lost or swindled in this exotic country.

9. Machu Picchu in Peru- Hikers and tourists have visited the fascinating Inca civilization since its discovery in the early 1900s. Many call the experience magical. You can travel to another time by visiting the Inca temples and villages. Blending in with the hillside itself, many say the area creates a seamless and elegant green paradise, making it a must for anyone who travels to Peru.

10. France- The country has a lot of beautiful attractions and cultural structures to visit. It is bustling with activity, full of large cities like Paris and beautiful small villages and vineyard country side. The countryside still holds a strong impression of Old World feelings and hospitality. There are plenty of memorable places to visit and food to taste in France.

#1: The Weather

Approximately three months of the year, the daytime temperature will reach and possibly exceed 100 degrees. The humidity during those three months will be between 8% and 15% most of the time, and one doesn’t really feel the heat because of the air-conditioning within the car, office or house. The local pubs, stores and casinos all have air-conditioning so you won’t really notice how ‘hot’ it is.

TIP: If you are going out to play tennis or golf or any other outdoor sport it is best to get an early start time so you are off the course or court by noon during the summer. The best things is that you can lay these sports year round in Vegas so you don’t rush yourself through a season!

#2: Shopping, Shopping, Shopping!

Las Vegas used to be primarily only a gambling destination. Presently, it has become a popular Shopping destination as well because of it’s discounts and infamous shopping outlets. There are over 500 stores in four locations (Caesar’s Forum Shops, Venetian’s Grand Canal Shoppes, Aladdin’s Desert Passage and the ever so popular Fashion Show Mall) in less than a half mile across the Strip. This is only a small part of what the neon city provides for the thirty-six million visitors that vacation there throughout the year. There are also many malls and shopping stores that cater to the local public as well.

#3: Personal Income Tax doesn’t exist!

It’s true! Las Vegas has no personal, state income tax to pay. Unfortunately, one still has to pay the US IRS their dues, but other than that you get to keep all that you earn! What could be better than that?!!

#4: Jobs, Jobs and more Jobs!

Las Vegas is still one of the fastest growing cities in the US with hospitality and gaming remaining the major industries of the city. Construction is also a very important industry as the city continues to grow. New Business are moving their headquarters to our valley because of the beneficial tax situation. Job opportunities are limitless with this famous neon city!

#5: Wining and Dining

Las Vegas is now recognized as a dining destination for all locals and visitors. Awhile ago, the thought of dining in Las Vegas encouraged thoughts of inexpensive food and buffets that were made available gamblers and visitors alike. If there were fabulous dining establishments within the casinos, the casinos would be put on hold while high rollers sip their martinis and ponder the menu! This was not acceptable for the casinos at the time. Those days are finally over. There are still plenty of all you can eat, low priced buffets available, but now the gamblers and visitor can enjoy fine dining and some superb dishes created by world known top chefs. This has all improved the neon cities image and people flock to these establishments, bringing in more business throughout the casinos and elsewhere.

#6: Viva Las Vegas! Entertainment for all!

This is one of the top reasons to move to Vegas! Entertainment! There are nightclubs on every corner, piano bars, live shows, attractions and lounges in every casino resort of any size. The millions of tourists that come here and the locals all enjoy the entertainment of the neon city!

#7: Close to everything!

In less than an hour you could be sailing your boat on Lake Mead. In four to five hours, you could drive to Phoenix, Los Angeles or San Diego. In a few hours, you could be in Death Valley, and in about three hours, you could drive to the south rim of the ever so famous Grand Canyon.

#8: Open all hours!

24 hours non-stop! Stores like Wal-Mart as well as local stores and all of your neighborhood bars are open for you to visit all hours of the day. Of course, all the 7-11 type stores and gas stations are open as well as

the casinos. Enjoy the freedom!

#9 Reason to livin in Las Vegas: The High Rolling Casinos!

Everyone knows what the casinos have to offer visitors and locals. They are open 24-7 every day of the year. You can drop in and drink or eat and gamble at any hour of the day. Las Vegas has most of the luxurious and largest resorts in the world in the Las Vegas valley.

#10: So much to see and do!

You will never be bored in this non-stop action city! There is so much to see and do in and around Las Vegas. See the Grand Canyon, the Stratosphere Tower, the Shark Reef, the Fremont Street experience, the Bellagio Hotel dancing fountains and so much more. You will be entertained all day long!

The Genting World Lion Dance Championship is Malaysia’s claim to fame when it comes to festivals. This colourful, exciting and exhilarating event, with a history spanning over 1500 years, is held once every two years at the Arena Of Stars in Genting Highlands, which is known as Kuala Lumpur’s City of Entertainment.

The three-day event was held for the eighth time in 2008 and the spectators witnessed many lion dance troupes from around the world vying for the ultimate prize.

If you are moving into the Sylacauga Alabama area, and have children still in school, then you should do some quick research on the public schools to see how they stack up against the other schools in the area. Depending on where you are going to working, you may be able to move there to have your children attend the Sylacauga city schools.

The following is a list of the schools with their contact information:

Sylacauga High School (9th – 12th Grade)

701 North Broadway

Sylacauga, AL 35150

256-249-0911

Nichols-Lawson Middle School (6th – 8th Grade)

1550 Talladega Highway

Sylacauga, AL 35150

256-245-4376

Pinecrest Elementary School (3rd – 5th Grade)

615 Coaling Rd

Sylacauga, AL 35150

256-245-2699

Indian Valley Elementary Schools (K – 2nd Grade)

1099 Old Field Rd.

Sylacauga, AL 35150

256-249-0397

These city schools are some of the best in Talladega County. And there are other schools to choose from within the county as well. You should do your research for test scores, the percentage of passing students, their overall academic programs, and if you are looking at sports for your child, then you could also take into consideration their sports programs.

And since Sylacauga is right off of Hwy 280, it really does make for a short commute to your place of work if you decide to move to there. It has the small town feel, but is still close enough to all of the big city activities, with it only being 45 miles from Montgomery and 30 miles from Birmingham.

Before you make the decision to move, give the schools a call and get some more information. Maybe, even schedule a tour of the place just to make sure you and your child will be comfortable. Because, with your children in mind, choosing to educate your child in the Sylacauga city schools will be a big decision for you. And will be a good decision as well.

Get more information on the Sylacauga city schools and see if this education system is right for you and your children.

You donÂ’t have to be Tony Shalhoub from the TV series Monk to worry about the germs lurking inside your hotel room. Any time you live out of a room that is not your own, one that may not be as clean as you like, you might find thoughts of bed bugs and dust balls dancing in your head. You may wonder when the last time the bathroom was scoured or wonder how many people have wiped their dirty hands on the hotel room curtains. And, of course, you may fervently hope that no previous patrons lived by the mantra “what happens in a hotel room, stays in a hotel room.”

For those who travel frequently for business or pleasure, there are a number of things you can do to reassure yourself that you are staying in the cleanest hotel possible:

Be Picky: When cleanliness is a factor in choosing a hotel room, you canÂ’t let your decision be dictated by price: expensive does not necessarily mean clean. Instead, keep in mind the hotelÂ’s reputation. Many booklets and travel guides will rate hotels based on several factors, one of these being cleanliness. If a hotel received five stars for food, but only one for cleanliness, youÂ’ll know that that hotel has great food, pieces of it just might be stuck inside the carpet strands of your hotel room floor.

Look Around: ItÂ’s usually pretty easy to tell if a hotel room is clean or if itÂ’s dirty. This doesnÂ’t require tracing over every ounce of furniture with a prestine white glove, it simply requires looking around. If you notice that the towels are dirty or the bathtub is filled with slime and grime, then mention this to the hotel room staff. If you notice that your sheets are stained or your TV stand contains the worldÂ’s largest collection of dust, donÂ’t be afraid to ask to be moved. You arenÂ’t only paying for a hotel room, you are paying for a clean one.

Stay Away from Smoking Rooms or Rooms that Allow Pets: Both smoking and pets – and not to mention pets that smoke – can dirty up an otherwise clean hotel room. Smoke lingers in the air and rests on the tangible items of the room, leaving them discolored and filled with an ash-tray like smell. Pets walk on beds and carpets with muddy or wet paws. They roll around on the floor with possibly flea infested fur and mark their territory in foreign places, forever leaving your hotel room knowing that “Spot was here.”

Get Rid of the Spread: Ah, the hotel room bed spread. If there is one thing in the hotel room that hasnÂ’t been cleaned in a while itÂ’s probably the comforter, a fact that ironically brings you very little comfort. If you think about it, you probably don‘t wash your home bedspread all that often, perhaps saving it for the “Spring cleaning” times of year. This is often true in hotel rooms: bedspreads aren‘t washed with great frequency. The sheets, however, are washed regularly. Simply removing the bedspread, and cranking up the heat if it gets cold, can save you from sleeping under a blanket of germs.

Hotel rooms may seem impossible to keep immaculate: so many people circulate in and out that itÂ’s hard to keep track of all the germs. But, the hotels reputed for cleanliness are often reputed for a reason: they are, in fact, clean. Limiting your traveling to these types of hotels can also limit your exposure of things to which you donÂ’t want to be exposed. If you canÂ’t limit yourself to hotels known for being clean, then simply travel with your own cleaning supplies, a hazmat suit, or, naturally, a giant bubble.

The Giant Sequoia trees of California are a site to see. Despite heavy logging efforts, you can still hike through these massive trees on the Boole Tree Loop.

Giant Sequoia National Monument

The park system in central California is incredible. You have Sequoia National Park, the first national park ever designated in the country. Next to it is King Canyon National Park, created in 1940. Surrounding a good portion of these two is the new Giant Sequoia National Monument, designated such by President Clinton in 2000. The three parks form a sanctuary for incredible scenery, including the Giant Sequoias on the Boole Tree Loop hiking trail.

Although directions are included below, I have to mention the drive to Boole Tree is incredible. As you drive through Stump Meadow, you will see some of the biggest stumps in the world and get a real feel for what has been destroyed. The biggest is the Chicago Stump measuring 70 FEET around its perimeter. Sadly, the tree was cut down so it could be displayed in a museum in Chicago in the 1880s when such trees seemed plentiful.

The Boole Tree Loop is only 2.5 miles, but will take a couple of hours since youÂ’ll be staring up in the air like an idiot and looking at some incredible views. Since it is a loop, you can go either direction you wish. The first part of the trail will wind through at least 40 Giant Sequoia stumps that will boggle your mind with their size. Passing these, youÂ’ll head up to a plateau where you can look down upon valleys in the canyon with Spanish Mountain in the distance. Regardless of which way you go, youÂ’ll eventually come upon Boole Tree.

Boole Tree is big, but not as big as many of the stumps youÂ’ll see. Boole Tree stands roughly 275 feet high with a perimeter of some 35 feet. It is estimated to be over 2,000 years old and is one of the biggest living trees in the world. Ironically, the tree is named after a lumber mill owner that spared it. To bad he wasnÂ’t feeling as gracious with the other Giant Sequoias as all the stumps attest.

The Giant Sequoia National Monument is roughly an hour east of Fresno, California. Highway 180 is the most used entrance to the park from the west coast. Upon entering the park, youÂ’ll pass through a ranger station. Drive north from there and hand a left at Grant Grove after traveling just over a mile. Continue until you hit Grant Grove Village. Just after it, youÂ’ll see sign for Stump Meadow. Take a left and start driving. After a couple of miles, youÂ’ll see a parking lot with a sign.

If youÂ’re coming from Los Angeles, the drive will take five hours as will driving from San Francisco. Of course, drive times are dependent on traffic conditions in both cities.

Taking a hike through the Giant Sequoia National Monument is tremendous. It will give you a perspective of Mother Nature that few see.
