Are their scholorships and grants for single mothers wanting to obtain a four year degree? Please help?
I live in Atlanta Ga and will hopefully be attending Georgia State University and want to know if there are programs, grants, or scholarships for single mothers attending school
Call the financial aid office for the college you are going to attend. They will have the best info for your college.
You’ll need to fill out the federal FAFSA form (fafsa.com). You need to do so accuratley as this is used to make all financial decisions regarding grants etc.
Depending on your income, Pell Grants are one avenue. But again that will be determined by the FAFSA form. Your financial aid advisor can help you. Make them your best friend.

Mothers& Sons $5.93 How can mothers help rambunctious little boys grow up to be well-adjusted adults? What kind of goals should they have for raising their sons? Are there skills mothers can learn that will make child rearing more enjoyable? Mothers and Sons, available for the first time in mass market, answers these and other questions with reliable and effective counsel. Family therapists Jean Lush and Pam Vredevelt present guidelines for instilling self-control, maturity, and morality into a young boy`s identity. Especially helpful are the descriptions of normal developmental and sexual phases of boys from infancy to the teen years and discussion on how to best handle the difficult issues of each stage. Special chapters for single moms and step-moms are included as well. |

It is 2010 and yet there are still huge discrepancies in how women are treated in the work place and by lending institutions. Many women have to work full time out in the world then have to come home and do most of the housework. Many are single mother’s trying to support their families and make ends meet alone. It is 2010 and yet many women still earn less per hour for the same job as a man! No matter what the situation it seems that women have had to give 110% to make it in a largely man’s world.
The government in an attempt to raise awareness and demonstrate the worth of women, has allocated funds to help women equalize their disadvantages with grant money for starting businesses, completing trainings and degree programs and even helping women to buy their first home. Even if the banks won’t lend women the money for a smart business idea they may be able to find the support they need for start up funds and to live their dream with allocated government grants. If you are a woman reading this or a friend of a woman then please continue reading this and pass on the information to your friends and sisters. First it is important to determine what grants are available and to learn how to do just that.
Note these 4 steps:
1. Begin with a search engine to find information about grants for women.
2. Find websites that specialize in helping people find funds allocated to help.
3. Find support groups online with other women looking for tips on grants.
4. Go to the official government aid website.
Examples of some available grants from that site: Federal Pell Grant, Women’s Economic Ventures for Small Business Loans, Minority Women and Disabled Participation Loan programs.
It will take some time and effort to search and sift through information to determine which grants you think you might qualify for but it could certainly is well worth your time given that many people won’t even try. There is a lot of money that’s been allocated and you have as much right as anyone to take the necessary steps. Get informed and see if you might qualify then find the time to just do it! Your government believes in the power of women, do your research and show that you believe in yourself. Good luck.

Do you wish to go for higher studies but don’t have the needed fund in your hand? If you have answered yes then I would suggest you to go for federal grants for college. Previously the concept of grant money may appear vague to all but of late more and more people are getting introduced to grants. Federal grants for colleges are one such example that helps students to continue with their education.
Most consider that grants for college are an upcoming ordeal but this isn’t the truth. Instead the government offers the grant to those who are worthy of receiving these grants.
In addition to federal grants for college, you will also find grants that help in meeting your personal needs. But then not everybody can qualify for these grants. You need to fulfill a couple of requirements to qualify for the federal grants for college. To begin with, for applying for this grant you need to first have a desire to continue with your education. In other words, it shouldn’t be that you are continuing with your education simply because somebody has asked you to do so. It should be your own decision and not somebody else’s! Next, it would be foolish on your part to back off from the idea simply because you aren’t a bright student. To add to your surprise let me tell you that there are various grants available for the mediocre students as well.
So friends, the time has come to apply for the federal grants for college!

President Obama’s “Moms Return to School Grant” is such a great opportunity to continue your education. The president has asked every American to consider getting more education so that the United States can remain competitive on the world stage. In fact, his goal is for the U.S. to have more college graduates per capita by 2020 than any other country in the world.
To do that, he has implemented a wide range of financial aid programs which help mothers return to school.
One is increasing the Federal Pell Grant from $4050 to $5350. That extra $1300 can go a long way toward paying for tuition, household expenses or day care.
The president has also encouraged colleges themselves to take a look at how they are pricing their programs. It’s no secret that the price of tuition has far outpaced the rate of inflation for some time now.
Obama’s challenge has resulted in some concrete changes too. For instance, at Arizona State University, the new “Obama Scholarships” offer tuition, room, board, and other expense money to 2000 students.
Grants specifically for mothers returning to school have the power to change your life, enable you to make more money, and can ultimately make your existence a happier one. Keep focused on the big picture, of yourself in a better life, and you will succeed.
